This Bristol, CT based group aims to breed a Slow Food community here in Central Connecticut. We became an official chapter July 25th 2014!
Slow Food is Good, Clean, and Fair:
Good food is healthful and delicious.
Clean food is produced in sustainable and environmentally sensitive ways.
Fair food is food produced with respect for social justice.
Using fresh, local ingredients we can reduce pollution from packaging and shipping and supports small local farms. Growing your own food means saving money and providing nutrient rich foods that reconnect you to where your food comes from. Eating food prepared with care from healthy plants and animals, tastes better and is better for you. Paying farmers fairly and making clean, fresh food available to all improves everyone's quality of life.
So buy from your farmer's market, spend some time cooking like your grandma, get ready to garden, and most of all: re-learn how to Slow down and enjoy Food.
