Millstone Farm

About Millstone Farm

An exemplary model of sustainable agriculture, Millstone Farm is as beautiful as it is efficient. On the seventy-five acre farm, long, neat rows of vegetables line the garden and melons are perfectly suspended from an overhead trellis. Heritage chickens, sheep, and pigs roam in spacious pens that are part of a larger rotational grazing system, which stretches out over a rolling, pastoral landscape.

Betsy and Jesse Fink established Millstone Farm just a few years ago, with the help of renowned farmer Annie Farrell. Sharing a common desire to use the earth wisely, conserve energy, and farm sustainably, Betsy and Annie designed an environmentally friendly closed-loop farm. They produce an abundance of vegetables, eggs, and meat while at the same time reducing carbon emissions, minimizing impact on surrounding ecosystems (especially the nearby wetlands), and creating as little waste as possible.

Annie and Betsy hope that the sustainable design of Millstone will be useful to other small farms in Connecticut, and they hope that children can learn from their farm too! This is why they have recently opened Millstone to surrounding local schools, like New Canaan Country Day so that students have the opportunity to experience an outdoor classroom and study the ecosystems on the farm. Try the wholesome vegetables and meats from Millstone Farm at Paul Newman and Michel Nischan’s, Dressing Room, a new restaurant featuring local food from local farms. Millstone Farm also supplies the Barcelona Restaurants and Wilton’s local grocery store, the Wilton Village Market.

Millstone Farm is now taking orders for heirloom, free-range, organic turkeys!  Call for more information.
