Sweet Wind Farm

About Sweet Wind Farm

It doesn’t get much sweeter than local maple syrup, and at Sweet Wind Farm there is loads of it to go around. Ever since Arlow Case was a little boy of seven years old, he has been chasing down every maple tree he can get his hands on. His grandfather taught him the art of maple sugaring, thus planting the seeds for Arlow’s high school business venture, Arlow’s Sugar Shack, as well as his current farm and sugar house, Sweet Wind Farm.

Arlow and Susan, started Sweet Wind in 1997. In its first years, the Cases sold vegetables from a card table farm stand in the front yard and did their best without a sugarhouse. Now in the farm's tenth year, they have a state of the art sugarhouse that doubles as a farm stand in the summer months and is home to the production of over 300 gallons of maple syrup from February to April. Arlow and Susan, along with their four children, host fun activities on the farm throughout the year, including a blueberry, pumpkin, and maple festival, each featuring storytelling, cooking classes, and tastings. Sugarhouse tours and lessons on maple sugaring are available during the sugaring season.

From July through October, the Case's open their farm for Pick-Your-Own and feature blueberries, flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, squash and pumpkins. Call for more information about crop availability.  Visit Sweet Wind Farm at the Simsbury and East Harford farmers' markets, too!
