Cloverleigh Farm is owned and operator by Susan Mitchell, a first-generation grower who produces a diverse mix of fresh and flavorful vegetables using organic growing practices. Re-utilizing farmland at the old Martin Farm, the farms grows produce that is sold directly to the consumer through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program whereby individuals, couples, families, and students purchase their seasonal vegetables directly from the farm. Each week members receive a share of the harvest - whatever is ready that week! It is a wonderful way to understand how to eat seasonally and connect with a local farm.
Cloverleigh Farm's vegetables can also be found at Cafemantic and the Willimantic Food Coop in Willimantic, 21 Oak in Manchester, UConn's Whitney Dining Hall, and the Niantic Farmers' Market.
Susan is a founder and steering committee member of the New CT Farmer Alliance (www.newctfarmers.com), a group dedicated to supporting the next generation of farmers in CT, most of whom are new/young/beginning/first-generation/small-scale and direct-to-market farmers. She is a member of the New London County Farm Bureau board of directors and proud member of the National Young Farmers Coalition and CTNOFA. Cloverleigh Farm has signed CT NOFA's Farmers Pledge and soon plans to become certified organic.
