American Farmland Trust is the nation's leading conservation organization dedicated to saving the land that sustains us by protecting America’s farm and ranch land, promoting environmentally sound farming practices and ensuring a sustainable future for farmers and ranchers. As the vital link among farmers, conservationists and policy-makers, we’re focused on ensuring the availability of the land that provides fresh food, a healthy environment and lasting rural landscapes.
Since our founding in 1980 by a group of farmers and citizens concerned about the rapid loss of farmland to development, we've helped to save more than three million acres of farmland and led the way for the adoption of conservation practices on millions more.
Working Lands Alliance works to raise awareness about the need to save Connecticut's valuable and vanishing farmland. A growing coalition of more than 200 Connecticut organizations, citizens, and businesses, WLA members reflect the diversity of people who share a concern about farmland preservation in Connecticut including farmers, planners, conservationists, anti-hunger advocates, historic preservationists, chefs and food retailers. WLA encourages anyone who cares about the future of Connecticut's family farms to join its efforts to educate policy leaders about the importance and benefits of farmland protection. A project of American Farmland Trust, WLA serves as your voice for farmland preservation in Connecticut!
